The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Streaking and Slumping Pitchers

Streaking

Bronson Arroyo (11-6, 4.01 ERA), Cincinnati Reds

Besides one ugly, seven-run outing, this right-handed hurler has been money in the bank. The Reds are 6-3 in Arroyo’s last nine starts and the under is 7-2 over the same stretch.

The former Red Sox went 4-2 with a 2.81 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP (walks + hits per inning) in the month of July.

Francisco Liriano (10-7, 3.18 ERA), Minnesota Twins

Liriano’s last three starts have all been gems but each of them came against terrible clubs. The talented lefty is on a 21-inning shutout streak, holding the Mariners, Royals and Indians off the scoreboard.

"He kept our hitters off balance. When you have his stuff and you're on and you're hitting your spots, it's pretty tough to hit a guy like that," Seattle's Michael Saunders told reporters after Liriano struck out 11 Mariners and walked two.

The Twins are 4-0 in their ace’s last four appearances and they’ve covered the runline in each of those outings too.

Wandy Rodriguez (9-11, 4.49 ERA), Houston Astros

The ‘Stros have pretty solid 1-2 punch with Brett Myers and this 31-year-old southpaw. Rodriguez is 6-1 with a 1.91 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP in his last seven trips to the bump. He’s been an underdog in four of those starts, too.

"He's throwing the ball extremely well, commanding that fastball, which is setting up the curveball," Astros manager Brad Mills told the Associated Press after
Rodriguez gave up no runs and struck out nine in eight innings of work against the Brewers last week. "He was really hitting on that curveball today. When he's able to spot that fastball and his curveball's like it is, it's going to be tough."

Slumping

Tommy Hanson (8-8, 3.83 ERA), Atlanta Braves

Tommy Hanson isn’t getting a lot of help from his mates at the dish or in the field. The hard-throwing youngster is 0-3 in his last four starts despite owning a respectable 2.55 ERA during that period.

The Braves averaged just two runs per game over his cold streak and they made even worse by allowing four unearned runs with Hanson on the hill.

Hot Lines: Today's best MLB bets

Texas Rangers at Oakland Athletics (145, 6.5)

Whether as a Mariner or a Ranger, lefthanded ace Cliff Lee has enjoyed his best days against the Oakland A's - both this season and in his career.

Lee is 4-2 with a 2.26 ERA vs. the A's - his lowest ERA against any team in baseball - but that number is inflated compared to his last outing against Oakland.

Lee settled for a no-decision last week against the A's despite allowing no earned runs over nine innings of work and throwing 13 strikeouts to no walks.

"That game was all Cliff Lee," teammate Michael Young said. "You can't say enough about the job he did. Their starting pitcher threw the ball really well, but Cliff dealt for nine innings."

Lee will be out for revenge in this one and will face off with fellow lefty Dallas Braden, who is back on track with back-to-back wins. But he is just 1-3 lifetime against the Rangers with a 3.86 ERA.

Pick: Rangers

St. Louis Cardinals at Florida Marlins (130, 6.5)

Cardinals righthander Adam Wainwright should consider a career in deep-sea fishing after baseball because he's always had a knack for hooking the Marlins.

Wainwright is 3-1 lifetime with a 2.61 ERA against the Fish. His lone loss to Florida came in his last meeting - a 2-1 pitchers' duel in which he lasted seven innings.

Wainwright had eight strikeouts to only one walk in that one, bring his career total against the Marlins to 37 Ks and 10 Ws over 38 innings. In his last six starts, he has 33 Ks to only three Ws.

Wainwright faces an equally hot righty in Ricky Nolasco, who has won three straight starts in impressive fashion. But he hasn't been as lucky against the Cards, going 0-2 with a 5.92 ERA.

The Cards have won 19 of their last 28 against the Marlins, who are batting just .233 against righties over their last 10. Look for the Cards to squish the Fish.

Pick: Cardinals

Lady Luck: Today's WNBA best bets

Tulsa Shock at Los Angeles Sparks (-8, 161.5)

The Shock haven’t had much to celebrate in their first season since moving from Detroit to Tulsa. But one of those rare moments took place last Tuesday, when the WNBA’s worst team defeated its best.

The Shock rocked the Seattle Storm, 84-75, as 12.5-point home underdogs, picking up just their fifth win of the 2010 season. Tulsa forced 25 turnovers, shot 50 percent from beyond the arc and made 14 steals and four blocks, snapping a seven-game losing skid.

"Just so excited," Scholanda Robinson told reporters. "A little bit of relief, but it just feels really good. We put a great game together from beginning to end. It is just domination. We beat the best team in our league and it just shows what a great team we are. When we come to play our game and we play for 40 minutes, we can beat anybody."

Tulsa takes that momentum to Los Angeles Friday to face the 9-17 L.A. Sparks, who sit in front of the Shock in the basement of the Western Conference.

Los Angeles needed overtime to defeat Tulsa in their last meeting, sneaking away with an 86-83 win at home but failing to cover as a 7-point favorite on July 20. The Sparks are coming off a win and cover against the Chicago Sky Wednesday, but are just 3-7-2 against the spread inside the Staples Center this season.

Pick: Tulsa

Atlanta Dream at Indiana Fever (-5.5, 162)

The Indiana Fever were challenging for the top spot in the Eastern Conference until hitting a three-game slide, leaving them looking for answers against the Atlanta Dream, the only team ahead of them in the standings.

Indiana dropped its third game in a row to the New York Liberty Tuesday, falling 82-72 as a 7.5-point home favorite. The Fever were the best home team in the WNBA before this slump, but have dropped their last two outings inside Conseco Fieldhouse to fall to 10-4 at home (7-7 ATS).

“(We have to) try to figure out a way to win. Pull together as a team. Find out whatever we’re lacking and start to sew it up as nice as we can and try to start peaking here pretty soon, right now before we get to the playoffs,” forward Ebony Hoffman told the media following the team’s third straight defeat.

The Fever’s top-ranked defense, which has allowed only 72.1 points against per game this season, has given up an average of 83 points during this skid, including 90 points to Atlanta in a 90-74 thrashing just last weekend.

The Dream and Fever have split their four previous meetings this season, but Atlanta holds the edge at the sportsbook, going 3-1 against the spread in those games.

Pick: Atlanta

Key stat

49-10 - Combined score of the last six meetings between the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs. The Reds scored 14 twice and 12 once in those games.

Injury that shouldn't be overlooked

Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis will undergo season-ending surgery on his right thumb, making his team's battle for a playoff spot even more of an uphill battle. Youkilils will be in a cast for up to six weeks after the surgery but won't be ready to play until the start of next season. Youkilis was batting .307 with 19 home runs and 62 RBIs in 362. The Red Sox have a healthy Mike Lowell ready to fill in but he can't produce at the level of his predecessor.

Game of the day

Red Sox at Yankees (-145, 9)

Notable quotable

"It pretty much can't happen any place but here. I know it works both ways but to lose a game in a pennant situation like that because of a roof indicates why there's a crying need for a new ballpark."

Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon said Thursday after Minnesota Twins outfielder Jason Kubel's ninth-inning pop-up hit the catwalk at Tropicana Field for the game-winning RBI single.

Tips and notes

Last-minute trades aren't "Dunn" just yet. An unidentified team has claimed Washington Nationals outfielder Adam Dunn off waivers, FOXSports.com reported Thursday. The Nationals are only permitted to deal with the team that made the waiver claim until Monday. Had Dunn cleared waivers, the Nationals could have discussed a trade with all 29 major-league teams. Washington would like to move Dunn, who is set to make $4 million the rest of the season. The 30-year-old is hitting .277 with 28 home runs and 71 RBIs in 386 at-bats so far this season.

Washington Nationals may be losing a big bat in Dunn but they are regaining a golden arm. Rookie phenom Stephen Strasburg looked strong in a simulated game Thursday as he continues rehabbing a shoulder injury. Strasburg faced nine hitters and threw approximately 40 pitches. He reported no pain in his injured shoulder, which has landed him on the 15-day disabled list. Strasburg, 22, is eligible to return from the DL Tuesday against the Florida Marlins. The righthander is 5-2 with a 2.32 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings.

Real Madrid standout Kaka had surgery on his left knee Thursday and may miss up to four months of action. The Brazilian midfielder had long-standing meniscus damage that was revealed after meeting a Belgian knee specialist. Kaka, who joined Real from AC Milan last year for a $85.3 million transfer fee, scored eight goals in 25 Liga appearances last season, but had a disappointing World Cup for Brazil, which lost in the semifinals to the Netherlands.
